Hiking with Full Body Freedom

  • In Aligned Movement New York, NY (map)

How to move with less pain, more confidence, and to feel free while hiking

What holds you back from getting out in nature more?

For many, it’s the nagging pain that arises in vulnerable areas of the body (feet, knees, hips, back, etc.).  And for some, it’s dealing with the consequences of so much soreness after the exertion of a hike.

Many of our aches and pains can be attributed to normal — but poor habits of either over or under-using parts of our bodies.

However, through some simple body education and retraining of our motor programs, we can open up range of motion, and develop a better balance of strength that keeps our bodies moving well for our lifetimes so that we can go out and do the activities we love.

In this workshop, we’ll look at some of the common problem areas that arise around hiking.

We’ll learn how to prepare our bodies to handle the range of motion and loads that hiking requires, we’ll practice moving in ways that decrease the friction and wear and tear of our joints, and then we’ll experience some restorative exercises that help us minimize post hiking soreness.

Patrick Hogan is a Restorative Exercise Specialist, Natural Movement trainer, and certified life coach dedicated t o helping people prepare their bodies to be capable of taking them on the adventures they dream of.
