What determines health and a life well lived?
Today, after a couple meetings, my mind said. Go home. Do laundry. Continue the computer work. Cook dinner.
Another voice said, you need to move your body.
I agreed - knowing I needed to exercise.
I went to a hiking trail — Intending to run — get in a “work out”
But I came to a stream and that inner voice said - follow the water.
I walked through the stream feeling the cool water on my shins the mossy rocks under my feet.
I came to a clearing of bare rocks, and laid down - taking in the sun like a lizard.
I watched the clouds.
I continued up the stream — crawling now— under the overhanging bushes…
Until I found another opening with a small pool.
I submerged in the pool — laying down — cooling my body.
I ate blueberries from the overhanging bushes.
Then followed the stream back to the road.
Where are the concerns about:
How much weight did I lift?
How many miles did I walk or run?
What quantity of calories did I burn?
Feeling calm, refreshed, sunkissed, lingering taste of berries…
What determines health and a life well lived?
