Courage comes in tiny steps

Sometimes courage isn’t about doing big daring and dangerous things.

Sometimes, courage is just stepping out of your routine,

Trying something new

And stepping into the unknown.

Taking one step toward the life you envision.

Discomfort will always accompany change.

The trap is getting too focused on that discomfort.

It’s helpful to think of discomfort as a cloud in the sky. Take in the whole view - You are the sky. And you are more than enough to contain and hold those clouds.

What’s the smallest, next step you can take?

I recently took a hike that was a culmination of many tiny acts of courage. Nothing extraordinary or even worth mentioning except they illuminate how progress and realizing your goals are made up of many tiny decisions to move toward discomfort:

  • getting up super early to start the hike at sunrise (tired face)

  • Online reviews talked about how difficult the trail was

  • I needed to be home by the afternoon and I wasn’t sure how long the hike would take

  • It was an unofficial “herd Path” trail with no clear markings (and I’m not an expert in navigation)

Any one of those things could’ve stopped me in my tracks. The unknown, the discomfort, the worry, the doubt.

In the end, it was a beautiful day, an exhilarating hike and so much fun.

Setting an intention

Noticing the fears and discomfort

Learning how to embrace those obstacles

And taking the small steps that enable change and progress.

These are some of the things that we work on my my coaching programs!

If you’re tired of letting discomfort, pain, or doubt stop you from making progress toward your dreams and you want to develop the fitness and mindset to set out on more of life’s adventures.

Wishing you well in your next courageous adventure!
