Strategies for Building a Movement Rich Lifestyle

Aside from scheduling more time for exercise, how do we actually get to moving more?


Three strategies I like to use are:

  • Activity Stacking

  • Movement Makeovers

  • Movement Snacks

Stacking is the process where you take an activity you already need to do and figure out how you can incorporate movement into that activity. (Ie: walk to the grocery store)

Movement Makeovers are finding creative or alignment informed ways to do an activity differently. (Ie: standing desks vs. sitting or sitting with neutral pelvis and spine)

Movement Snacks: Just like we might have a snack to tide us over between meals, movement snacks are great ways to break up the times when we get stuck in one position for too long. (Ie: intermittent stretching in between bouts of sitting)
